        Most historians are faced with the daunting question of asking "why?". This is crucial in the History of Holidays. Why do we celebrate each holiday? What is its purpose? Where did it originate from? We find that most, if not all, of our readers do not understand the origins of the majority of the holidays they celebrate yearly!

        If one doesn't understand why they celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, they aren't really celebrating Saint Patrick's Day. They are just celebrating in general! A holiday is not really a holiday if you don't know why it exists and where it comes from.
